Whatever may be said, knitting has not suddenly become fashionable and trendy….! What is fashionable and trendy has a very short shelf life, as we all know !
Knitting is an activity which has been scientifically proved to be an extremely effective therapy. It most certainly does not replace medical treatment but it does go a long way in helping those undergoing difficult medical care, be it in the treatment of illness, physical injuries or psychological disorders.
All creative activities using one’s hands are successful in bringing about peace of mind, alleviating stress and procuring satisfaction and none more so than knitting.
Knitting has the advantage of being within the reach of one and all, young and not so young. The equipment needed is minimal and not expensive, it is also lightweight and easy to carry around.
But above all and probably most importantly, knitting is an activity that brings people together and creates lasting social cohesion. We have been witness to many of these moments over the years and this month, once a week, we would like to share with you some of these stories….
